Is the rent based on income?
Yes, BRAC is subsidized by the USDA for rental assistance to those who qualify, based on the income level.

Who qualifies to live in BRAC?
Our first apartment complex, 1016 Orchard Lane Apartments is available to age 62 and over and all ages of disabled persons. Our second complex, 1119 Jersey Street Apartments is offered to age 18 and over and all ages of disabled persons. Refer to the Resident Policy.
What utilities are covered?
The tenant pays the electric bill to the City of Baldwin City. BRAC covers wi-fi, water, sewer and trash. The apartments are all electric.
Is meal service available at BRAC?
No, BRAC is independent living; tenants can provide for themselves with full kitchens in the apartments.
Are there laundry facilities?
Yes. BRAC provides coin-operated washer/dryers in a Commons laundry room per location, not in the apartment.
Are pets allowed?
Yes. Service, comfort and pet animals are allowed, upon approval, in person with management. One dog or cat only, with breed and size restrictions. Deposit is required. Refer to the Animal Policy.
Does BRAC have onsite Management AND Maintenance?
Yes. Both full-time, Monday – Friday. Federal holidays are recognized and the office is closed.
Are there stairs or an elevator?
No. All BRAC apartments are ground level.
